WOMEX: Launching the drafting of the new Belgrade Employment Program

On October 8, 2026, a session of the Belgrade City Employment Council was held, where one of the key topics was the initiation of the drafting process for the Belgrade City Employment Program with an action plan for the 2027–2029 period. This document serves as a policy instrument, the improvement of which the Regional Agency for Economic Development and European Integration Belgrade (RAREI Belgrade) is working on as part of the [[nt]]WOMEX – The Role of Women in the Competitiveness of Exporting SMEs[[/nt]] project, which is being implemented through the [[nt]]Interreg Europe[[/nt]] program.

The session addressed the organization of the program's drafting process, the definition of tasks and deadlines, and the formation of a working group for document preparation. Mirjana Bogdanović and Radenko Đurković addressed the attendees on behalf of the Belgrade City Secretariat for Economy, while Ljiljana Marković, a representative of RAREI Belgrade and a member of the [[nt]]WOMEX[[/nt]] project team , presented the methodological approach for drafting the program.

During the presentation, the importance of data-driven planning, local labor market analysis, and the needs of the economy was emphasized. Special attention was given to the position of women in the labor market, the needs of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises—particularly women-owned and export-oriented firms—as well as skills development, job retention, and job creation.

The session was of particular significance for the [[nt]]WOMEX[[/nt]] project, as it represents an important step in the process of preparing a new policy document. The Employment Program and its action plan will be enhanced by incorporating measures and activities derived from the exchange of knowledge, experiences from partner regions, best practices, and lessons learned during the implementation of the [[nt]]WOMEX[[/nt]] project, with the goal of improving the position of women in export-oriented enterprises, developing their skills, and strengthening the competitiveness of these companies at the regional level.

By participating in the Employment Council and presenting the methodological approach for drafting the program, RAREI Belgrade has actively contributed to the initial phase of this process. In cooperation with the Belgrade City Secretariat for Economy and other relevant stakeholders, RAREI Belgrade will continue to contribute to the improvement of local employment policy through the application of the results from the [[nt]]WOMEX[[/nt]] project.
