A competition has been announced for the selection of the best student papers on the EU

The Ministry of European Integration of the Government of the Republic of Serbia is announcing a prize competition for the selection of the best individual student papers on European integration and the process of our country's accession to the European Union.

The aim of this prize competition is to directly involve young academic citizens in an open, reasoned debate on the essential aspects of the accession process and membership of the Republic of Serbia in the European Union.

The papers should answer one of five questions:

1. How to achieve the vision of the common future of Serbia and the European Union within the possible participation of Serbia in the work of the Conference on the Future of Europe?

2. What are the lessons of the pandemic for achieving resistance to possible similar crises in the future and the sustainability of societies and the economy of the European Union?

3. Can the implementation of the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans accelerate the recovery from the socio-economic consequences of the pandemic, as well as green and digital transformation in the Republic of Serbia?

4. Is it a new way of conducting the accession process, i.e. by applying a new methodology, the European Union enlargement policy revived?

5. Why is the preservation of European values crucial for the survival of the European Union, and their strengthening important for increasing the well-being of all citizens in the Western Balkans?

A committee composed of professors from the University of Belgrade will evaluate the quality of the submitted works, and the authors of the three best ones will be awarded fees in the amount of 85,000, 55,000 and 35,000 dinars. In addition to the three best-ranked ones, the Ministry will also publish other works that meet the criteria in the electronic collection of student works.

The competition is open to students of basic academic studies programs and master academic studies programs of all universities in the Republic of Serbia.

The deadline for sending papers is October 18, 2021.

You can download the text of the competition here.

Note regarding the competition:
We received a question about whether co-authorship is allowed in the writing of papers, and in this regard we note that a paper can be written by one or more people, but if that paper is ranked in one of the first three places, the Agreement on the author's work with the Ministry is signed by all the authors of the work and the fee provided for by the competition is shared between them.
