Radojičić announced the start of the reconstruction of the Emergency Department, the City Library, the Student Polyclinic and the Inpatient Hospital by the end of 2019.

The project "Thermal rehabilitation of public buildings - improvement of energy efficiency in the city of Belgrade" will be implemented by the end of 2019, which means that we will soon reconstruct the facilities of the Emergency Service, the City Library, the Student Polyclinic and the Hospital, so that they will be energy efficient, i.e. they will consume less energy, and at the same time provide a faster and better service to the citizens, said the mayor of Belgrade, prof. dr. Zoran Radojičić.

Mayor of Belgrade prof. Dr. Zoran Radojičić, Minister for European Integration Jadranka Joksimović, State Secretary of the Ministry of Mining and Energy Stevica Deđanski and Director of the Regional Agency for Development and European Integration Belgrade Snežana Radinović signed on April 25 in the Old Palace a Memorandum of Cooperation on the implementation of the rehabilitation project of four public buildings, it was published in the Bulletin on Development Assistance in Serbia, Ministry of European Integration. These are the facilities of the Emergency Service, the City Library, the Student Polyclinic and the Hospital. This project is worth 16 million euros, of which 11 million euros is the contribution of the EU, and 5 million is the loan that the City of Belgrade is taking from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

Radojičić points out that this is the first project that the City of Belgrade received from the IPA funds of the European Union, with great support from the competent Ministry for European Integration.

- We will reconstruct four buildings that are of vital importance for the functioning of the city, which have not been renovated in Belgrade for decades. Let's say, since the building of the Emergency Service was built in the sixties of the last century, it has never been reconstructed, while the number of our residents has increased significantly. The city of Belgrade will finally have an emergency room, a city library, a student polyclinic and an inpatient hospital according to European standards, which will be able to respond to the needs of the citizens - said the mayor.

According to him, although it was not easy to get to the point where the city of Belgrade has a project that is ready for financing, thanks to all the competent secretariats and institutions of the city that worked on resolving property-legal relations, preparing technical documentation, the project is ready for implementation.

Snežana Radinović pointed out that it is a great pleasure that after many years of work by RAREI on the preparation of the idea and the project itself, this project was approved for financing from the European Union funds through the IPA 2 component.

- This is not the only project of the City of Belgrade financed from EU funds. In the last few years, RAREI has managed to withdraw funds for the City of Belgrade through projects financed from various programs of the European Union - she says and explains that these projects will contribute to the improvement of the urban forest management model, the arrangement of the urban environment in a selected location in Belgrade with the help of natural solutions, and will represent support in the work of local self-government employees in certain procedures. culture, which are the basis of the development of a healthy country.

- Energy efficiency does not mean only the reduction of carbon dioxide, but also leads to concrete energy savings, which is the added value of the entire project - the minister pointed out.

On the occasion of the World Environment Day on June 5, the mayor of Belgrade, prof. Dr. Zoran Radojičić will speak about the project "Thermal rehabilitation of public buildings - improvement of energy efficiency in the city of Belgrade" at a press conference organized by the Program "Support of the European Union in the preparation of projects" (EU PPF). This conference is organized on the occasion of the presentation of the technical assistance program worth 20.1 million euros for the preparation of technical/tender documentation of projects in the field of environmental protection, energy and transport.
