New tourist signage, "Welcome" and "Goodbye" boards, as well as boards marking significant objects and localities of the city of Belgrade, were presented today at the Sava Pier.
According to the chief city planner Milutin Folić, Belgrade is finally getting tourist signage, and within the IME project, among other things, a whole set of objects that will serve to orient tourists and citizens are planned.
- Today we installed several welcome boards at the Sava Pier as well as at the airport, and those boards will be at all entrances to the city. At the same time, we are going to install signs that will mark important buildings in the city. A project of boards that will have maps is also being prepared, so citizens will have information on how far they can reach in five minutes on foot so that pedestrian traffic will be given priority - said Folić, who added that a project for the improvement of Karađorđeva Street and this part of the coastal fort is also being prepared, given that within the framework of the "Belgrade on Water" project, a lot of work is already being done on the coast. at the "Palat Srbija" stop in Mihajla Pupina Boulevard, heading towards the Municipality of Novi Belgrade.
- For today, a total of six stop signs are planned to be installed on the stretch from the Palace of "Srbija" to the roundabout in New Belgrade, and a total of 1,350 stop signs are planned - said Folić, adding that the implementation of the public transport stop marking project is also underway, within the framework of which 600 will be replaced in the first phase outdated and outdated signs, new, carefully designed bus stops and boards, which contain all the necessary information regarding public city transport and lines.
City Secretary for the Economy Tijana Maljković emphasized that Belgrade, as the most important tourist destination, records a constant rate of growth in tourist traffic and income from tourism, which is indicated by the fact that in February there were 36 percent more tourists than at the same time last year.
- The city of Belgrade has so far had tourist signage, but it was not of this quality and was not installed in all places that are important for tourists and citizens of Belgrade. The city, together with the Regional Agency for Development and European Integration, JKP "Belgrade-put" and the Tourist Organization of Belgrade, applied last year to the competition of the Ministry of Tourism, Trade and Telecommunications for funds for tourist signage - said Tijana Maljković, who added that today the first sign was installed at the Sava port, which annually receives more than 90 thousand tourists, the second at the airport, and the third is being installed in Kralja Aleksandra Boulevard.
She announced that in the next two months, signs will be placed at 24 locations at the entrance and exit from the city, thus covering tourists who come by road, plane and rail.
- The second part of the project is the signs that mark significant objects and locations. The goal is to improve the tourist presentation of Belgrade as the capital city, a first-category tourist site and an attractive tourist destination - said Tijana Maljković and added that the Tašmajdan stadium, which opens tomorrow, will also be marked in this way, and in the next two months 40 other buildings will be marked, as well as some interesting things such as the place where Nikola Tesla walked when he visited Belgrade.
The event was attended by the director of the Belgrade Tourist Organization Miodrag Popović and the director of the Regional development agency Snežana Radinović.
