Assistant to the Mayor of Belgrade Borko Milosavljević presented in the Old Palace a project to improve energy efficiency for seven Belgrade public companies "LEEN City of Belgrade", which will be implemented with the support of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and regional representatives of the Federal Republic of Germany (province of Baden Württemberg).
Strategic partners in the implementation of the project are the Regional Agency for Development and European Integration Belgrade, the Energy Innovation Center "Teslianum" and the German company "LEEN GmbH", which provided 51 percent of the funds for the implementation of the first phase of the project.
Milosavljević, welcoming the high delegation from Germany, pointed out that Serbia is synonymous with professionalism, accuracy, precision, discipline, quality work, efficient operations and good organization.
- This project is a good opportunity to enable additional improvement of the business of seven public companies from Belgrade, which were chosen to be in this pilot project, through cooperation and adoption of good practices, as well as the exchange of experiences - he stated Milosavljević.
He reminded that efficiency is slowly becoming a synonym in Serbia as well, given that the new city government managed to turn public losers into profit-making companies in just two years. More precisely, from a deficit of two billion dinars, public city companies are now generating income of two billion dinars, emphasized the mayor's assistant.
- We will not stop there, and this energy efficiency project is an example of how we can go further. The introduction of energy efficiency, the lack of which was identified in these seven companies, is aimed at further improving business, because the current situation in Serbia and Belgrade shows that many commercial buildings were built according to the principles of energy inefficiency - pointed out Milosavljević.
He added that the goal is for these companies to have minimum costs and maximum results, and it is savings in the field of energy that are on the line of reducing total costs. He also expressed the hope that this project will promote further economic cooperation between Serbia and Germany, since this year has been declared the year of entrepreneurship of small and medium-sized enterprises.
The director of the Baden Württemberg office in Brussels and a high-ranking official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the German region of the same name, Johannes Jung, said that the past experiences in cooperation with Serbia and the workers who come from here are more than positive.
He pointed out that the Government of Baden Württemberg Württemberg implements a number of innovative projects that are connected with the German government at the federal level, as well as with the European Union through offices in Brussels.
- This is a good project that foresees good technological solutions in increasing energy efficiency for more than 30 buildings, which will provide the citizens of Belgrade with better service and better business results of the selected companies. This project should be understood from the aspect of energy efficiency, from the aspect of a good example of the cooperation of our countries, but also from the aspect of Europe, because it is important to emphasize that this project belongs to the projects that represent a good example and a roadmap not only for the countries in the region, but also for many countries that are members of the EU and do not have such projects - Jung pointed out. entrepreneurial spirit. She also expressed her great gratitude to the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the City of Belgrade and the Government of Baden Württemberg for their great support for this project.
She emphasized that today's meeting officially marks the beginning of the implementation of this project, which will include public companies: "Belgrade Arena", SCR "Tašmajdan", "Sava Center", "Belgrade Fair", "Pionirski Grad", "Belgrade Power Plants" and SROC "Vračar". As she stated, these are companies that were chosen by the city as large consumers of electricity and other energy.
She reminded that the project was included in the list of priority national projects of the Republic of Serbia, which means that the European Commission, the Government of Serbia and the Ministry of Energy recognized the importance of realizing this project not only at the level of Belgrade, but at the level of the entire country.
Energy efficiency measures will, according to her, be defined by September 2016, when they will begin the second phase. the project phase, which will be financed through IPA and EBRD, as well as other international sources of financing in the amount of 11 million euros. Also, the great value of this project is the significant potential of applying the same methodology and the creation of new energy efficiency networks, both in Belgrade itself and in other cities of Serbia, and this project does not represent the end of activities, but the announcement of new projects in the future that will arise from the good cooperation of our two countries - stressed Radinović.
The main goals of the "LEEN City of Belgrade" project are significant savings in energy consumption, reduction of operating costs of business operations, harmonization with European standards in the field of energy, raising the overall efficiency of the company, as well as a positive impact on the preservation of the environment.
