IPA 2015 implementation has begun

Representatives of the Government of Serbia and the European Commission signed a financial agreement yesterday, approving the first 39.7 million euros from the instrument for pre-accession assistance (IPA II) for 2015, out of a total of 196.6 million euros.

Minister without portfolio in the Government of the Republic of Serbia in charge of European integration, Jadranka Joksimović, announced that two more financial agreements will be signed in the coming period, in the amount of 80 million euros and 76.9 million euros.

The agreement was signed by Jadranka Joksimović, who is also the national IPA coordinator, and the director in the General Directorate for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Catherine Vent.

The funds are intended for the implementation of projects in the areas of judicial reform and internal affairs, as well as projects that contribute to the process of negotiations and harmonization with EU regulations.

The program will finance, among other things, the strengthening of capacities in the fight against organized crime, money laundering and terrorism, the strengthening of internal control within the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the fight against corruption, the establishment of an efficient system for emergencies, the implementation of the Action Plan for Chapter 23 and the improvement of the efficiency of prosecution offices.
