What is mentoring?
Mentoring is a comprehensive process of supporting companies (business companies) and entrepreneurs who are at a crucial moment for theirs further development or for survival in general. The mentoring process represents a certain number of hours that the professional mentor spends in direct contact/work with the shop or business owner. The mentor's work begins with the diagnosis. The company and the mentor study together the reasons for current problems or obstacles to further development.
Based on the diagnosis, the mentor and the entrepreneur/company prepare a development plan/project. During this process, the mentor works as an assistant, but also as a coordinator and advisor.
The National Agency for Regional Development has standardized mentoring as a service within the implementation of the project "Institutionalization of mentoring as a service for MSMEs", financed by the Government of Japan through the Japan International Cooperation Agency - JICA. The National Agency for Regional Development has been implementing mentoring as a standardized service since 2011. The mentoring program in 2015 is an integral part of the new Project "Establishment and promotion of mentoring services for SMEs in the countries of the Western Balkans - Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro", which is being implemented by NARR in cooperation with the Government of Japan through the Japanese Agency for International Cooperation - JICA. The Project in question is the first of a regional nature financed by the Government of Japan and is being implemented in the period 2013-2016. year.
NARR also conducts an independent evaluation of mentoring users in the previous years of implementation, which showed that thanks to this service, SME users achieve an average 10% increase in sales, profits and the number of employees.
Content of mentoring services • Diagnosis - analysis of the current situation in the company, i.e. with entrepreneurs; • Help in the preparation of development activities/plans/projects, in order to the best possible business results were achieved; • Consulting and coordination of activities aimed at accessing funds, new technologies, consulting services, etc.; • Assistance in the preparation of documentation submitted to commercial banks and when applying for SME support programs; • Assistance in the implementation of development activities/plans/projects; • Assistance in finding business partners, through the republic network and in the EU network; • Assistance in finding the necessary information and consulting; • Training.
